On July 8, 2010, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to Provena Covenant Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim.
Reports indicate that a 24 y/o, male resident of Champaign, was walking in the area of Garwood and Walnut Streets on July 8, 2010, at 12:45 a.m., when he was approached by an unknown man with a gun. The suspect then ordered the victim to place his hands in the air. As the victim attempted to run from the suspect, several rounds were fired in his direction, with one round striking the victim. The victim continued running from the scene and later showed up at the hospital for treatment of injuries. No personal property was reportedly taken from the victim.
The suspect is described as a man dressed in black pants, black shirt, with a black mask over his face. No other identifying information has been provided to police.
