Champaign Police Respond to a “Man Down” Call (301 W. Marketview Drive)

Yesterday at 3:50 pm, Champaign Police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of W. Marketview Drive after a passerby reported seeing a body floating in a retention pond nearby.

When officers responded to assist the Champaign Fire Department on a “man down” call, they discovered a deceased male lying facedown in the water and immediately contacted the Champaign County Coroner’s Officer for further investigation.

The Champaign Fire Department led the rescue efforts and utilized the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) to secure additional resources and support. At the scene, Champaign Firefighters gained access to the area where the body was located, by way of boat. At this time, investigators cannot confirm the identity of this male.

Champaign Police Department will continue to investigate this incident. An autopsy is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., tomorrow morning in Bloomington, IL.
