Update on Aggravated Battery Cases

Champaign Police have arrested two 16 y/o juveniles for their alleged involvement in an aggravated battery that occurred on September 30, 2010, in the 1100 block of Crescent Drive.

On September 24, 2010, a 50 y/o man was battered after leaving a Central High School football game. The victim reported walking southbound on Crescent Drive and moving through a group of juveniles when he was struck in the head. The victim reported collapsing to the ground after being struck by an unknown object. Medical attention was not requested at the time of the report, but the victim later sought treatment an area hospital.

Yesterday, detectives received an anonymous tip regarding one of the suspect’s alleged involvement and located him for questioning. The juvenile was later arrested for Aggravated Battery and transported to the Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center.

Today, at approximately 10:50 a.m., detectives arrested a second suspect in connection with this incident. A 16 year-old male was also arrested for Aggravated Battery and transported to the Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center.
