Crime Prevention Month Activities

In 1984, the National Crime Prevention Council designated October as Crime Prevention Month. Since then, government agencies, civic groups, schools, businesses and youth organizations have reached out to educate the public and explore new partnerships during this special month.

Throughout October, the Champaign Police Department will conduct a set of activities that focus on crime prevention and safety. Our goal is to educate the citizens we serve, build stronger communities and serve as a resource for neighborhoods wishing to empower themselves against the effects of crime.

Discussions on Senior Safety, Identify Theft, Alcohol Awareness, Bullying/Cyber Bullying and Child Safety will be facilitated by Champaign Police Officers who will present current and relevant information on these topics. During our Child Safety discussions on October 27, 2010 at 6:30 p.m., the Champaign Police Department will collaborate with the Champaign Exchange Club to promote the “Time Out Teddy” program as they help in a nationwide fight against child abuse.

Come meet with officers and get the most up-to-date information on topics that affect you.

All events are free and open to the public!
