Today at approximately 9:59 a.m., Champaign Police Officers were dispatched to First Midwest Bank, 812 W. Springfield, for a reported robbery.
Police received information that a man entered the bank and handed the teller a note while demanding money. The suspect implied having a gun, though witnesses report never actually seeing one displayed. The suspect then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency and was last seen walking northbound on Prospect Avenue. No injuries were reported by bank employees.
The suspect is described as an African-American male, mid 40’s, average build, 5’4” – 5’5” tall, with a “scruffy” beard and wearing blue jeans or dark colored pants, black nylon jacket, black hat; black “rimmed” circled glasses.
