In the last week Illinois American Water determined that the location of the leak causing the water flow at the Springfield Avenue viaduct was located in the west 100 block of Springfield Avenue. The leak was repaired overnight, Friday, October 8, 2010. Pavement was restored on Monday, October 11, 2010, and the road is fully open to traffic at this time. The main flow of water into the street has stopped. However, residual water behind the retaining wall may seep for some time. Additionally, the City is investigating ways to reduce the potential of ground water seepage through the wall during periods of wet weather.
