Interactive Open House For The Regional Housing Study
In an effort to better understand housing in Champaign County, a Regional Housing Study Task Force was developed. The Task Force is comprised of the following organizations within Champaign County: Champaign County Regional Planning Commission, City of Champaign, City of Urbana, Housing Authority of Champaign County, and Village of Rantoul. To provide a comprehensive examination of Champaign County, the Task Force contracted with Vogt Santer Insights (VSI), a real estate research firm. VSI provided a thorough analysis through quantitative data collection. The Task Force supplemented the research VSI provided with a qualitative study of public input from a cross-section of community members and service providers throughout Champaign County. This was accomplished through focus groups, surveys, and interviews. The overall findings will be a result of combined analyzed data, and will provide insight on housing, neighborhoods and homelessness for our communities and County.
City of Champaign’s Interactive Open House will provide an opportunity for our community to learn about the findings from the Housing Study. Members from the Task Force will be available to answer questions about the study, and its results in an informal casual atmosphere. In addition, visitors will be encouraged to offer their suggestions for strategies on such topics as Rental Affordability, Home Ownership Affordability, Healthy Neighborhoods and Homelessness.
This Housing Study results will be a valuable tool in gaining an understanding of the housing issues within our communities and neighborhoods, and allow the local municipalities and agencies to strategically plan for housing needs during the next five years.
