Officers of the Champaign Police Department, in shared effort with officers from the Urbana Police Department, will run the “Flame of Hope” through the Champaign-Urbana community. Please note the route for the event has been modified.
Urbana Police will start the event from 2600 S. Stone Creek Blvd (Stone Creek Golf Course) at 6 a.m. They will run and carry the “Flame of Hope” this route:
- 2600 Stone Creek Blvd to Windsor Rd
- Run West on Windsor Rd to Lincoln Ave
- Turn North on Lincoln Ave to University Ave
- Run West on University Ave to Wright St.
At University Avenue and Wright Street, Champaign Police will receive the torch and continue running the following route:
- Continue West on University Ave to Chestnut St
- North on Chestnut St to Main St
- West on Main St to Church St
- Continue West on Church St to Mattis Ave
- Turn North on Mattis Ave to Bradley Ave
- West on Bradley Ave to the concrete sidewalk which enters Dodds Park
- Run North on the sidewalk until reaching the Olympic Tribute
Motorists traveling in close proximity of the route are asked to exercise caution when approaching the officers carrying the “Flame of Hope”.
