Champaign’s “Complete Streets” Best Practices Presentation

On Friday, May 7 City staff presented at the American Public Works Association State Conference in Peoria. Mishauno Woggon (Planning) and Chris Sokowolski (Engineering) gave a talk on the City of Champaign’s methods for design, process, internal coordination, public input, implementation and “lessons learned” with Complete Street projects. Approximately 50 people from all over Illinois attended the seminar to learn about the City’s best practices on the “complete streets” topic. Several recent projects were highlighted as successful “complete streets” designs, including First and Fourth Streets. In addition, the new Market Street road improvement project was presented as an example of a “complete streets” project that is underway.
