The Champaign Police Department hosted an Open House for the community on May 14, 2012 from 9am to 7pm. The event was held during National Police Week (May 13-19, 2012), an event recognizing the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement.
The event provided an opportunity for the public to have fun, meet the Police Chief and staff, and learn more about the police department. There were tours of the police department, presentations and demonstrations from the K-9 Unit, SWAT team, Hostage Negotiations team, Crime Scene Technicians and Explosive Ordinance Disposal Units. There was also a historical display and activities for the whole family.
