As an element of an energy conservation project in the City’s CIP project, the City replaced HVAC components at two City facilities – the City Building and Main Fire Station.

The City Building received a replacement chiller and also replaced the pneumatic control system with a digital control system. The City Building project is operating as designed and has experienced energy savings as well as improved comfort levels throughout the building.

Improvements at the Fire Station included boiler replacement and two air conditioning condensers.

The boiler replacement is functioning as designed, but the air conditioning system has experienced problems with both new units failing at various times. One of the two condensing units is currently non-functioning. Staff is working with the manufacturer and installer to determine the cause and solution to the continual problem. Currently, the administrative offices are being cooled with a portable air conditioning system until the units can be repaired and placed back in service.
