Starting Monday, June 4, weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will close the Kirby Avenue Bridge over Interstate 57 to all traffic in order to make repairs to the bridge. The closure will be from Cobblefield Road on the west to Holmstrom Street on the east. A posted detour route will direct traffic to use Staley Road, Windsor Road, and Duncan Road. Prior to the bridge closure IDOT’s contractor, O’Neil Brothers, will have mobile message boards in place to provide advance notification of the bridge closure. IDOT expects the overall project to be completed by early August and the bridge should be reopened to traffic at that time.
