The Human Resources Department and Police Department administered testing and interviews on June 12 and 13 to develop an Eligibility List for the position of Police Detective in the Investigations Division of the Police Department. Current Champaign Police Officers are assigned to the position of Detective as openings become available, in accordance with City policy and labor contract provisions. Officers are assigned as Detectives based on a rank-order eligibility list. Eighteen Officers committed to a rigorous study process, then participated in a written exam and interview which measure their qualifications for the position of Detective, as well as their knowledge and demonstrated application of City policies and values. The Detective Eligibility List will be finalized this month, and will be active for three years.
