Champaign Public Library Foundation Fulfills Contribution to New Main Library

The Champaign Public Library Foundation committed to raising $3 million toward construction of the new main library building. The Foundation met its pledge goal and remitted slightly over $1 million during building construction and another $1 million in the year following the opening of the new building. The final amount of approximately $1 million was remitted in several payments over the following four years, with the last payment of $200,000 delivered to the Finance Department last week. The final $1 million was spread out over several years because some donors spread their payments over several years, and because the Foundation used investment earnings on the donations to fully meet the $3 million goal. Here is a copy of the check, with Busey Wealth Management shown as the payer because it manages the Foundation’s investments.
