The Illinois Department of Transportation recently announced that beginning July 9, 2012, work will begin to modernize the traffic signals at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Prospect Avenue. During construction, one lane of traffic will be maintained on all approaches to the intersection. The overall project is anticipated to be complete by September of this year. The contractor for the $245,374 project is Champaign Signal and Lighting Company. Motorists are advised to travel with caution through the work zone.
