Canadian National Railroad Planning to Replace Country Fair Drive Crossing

By order from the Illinois Commerce Commission, the Canadian National Railroad (CNRR) is currently planning to remove and replace their crossing on Country Fair Drive, between Church Street and Springer Drive. CNRR is currently scheduling the crossing replacement work for the last week of August, though this schedule may change due to conflicts with other work and priorities.

It will be necessary for CNRR to fully close Country Fair Drive to all traffic at the crossing during their removal and replacement operations. CNRR expects to complete the crossing work within five days, running from Monday through Friday.

CNRR will install road closure barricades on each side of the crossing and will post road closure signs on each street in advance of the closure directing traffic to use Mattis Avenue to travel around the closed crossing.

Public Works staff will issue a news release prior to the start of CNRR’s work to alert the public about the closure of Country Fair Drive.
