University Avenue Tree Walk 2012

On Saturday, October 20, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., the City of Champaign and the University of Illinois Extension will be holding a tree walk along University Avenue. This location will provide participants with the opportunity to view over 45 trees both common and uncommon to Champaign in a three block area. The walk will begin at the southeast corner of Victor Street and University Avenue at 9 a.m. Victor Street is one block east of Mattis Avenue. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Leading the walk will be Bill VanderWeit, retired Forestry Supervisor for the City of Champaign, Sandy Mason, Horticultural Educator for the University of Illinois Extension, and John Karduck, Lead Arborist for the City of Champaign. Copies of the University Avenue Tree Walk will be distributed at the start of the walk. The walk leaders will answer questions in addition to providing information about these local trees.
