Starting Monday, October 15, 2012, the Canadian National/Illinois Central Railroad will CLOSE Country Fair Drive to remove and replace the rough crossing located between Church Street and Springer Drive. The crossing replacement work is expected to be completed and Country Fair Drive reopened on Friday, October 19, 2012.
The work consists of removing the current timber crossing, replacing the rails and ties, installing a new full depth rubber surface, and a small amount of asphalt paving work.
CN/IC will install traffic control signage to detour all north-south through traffic over to Mattis Avenue, using University Avenue and Springer Drive.
The closure of Country Fair Drive will be coordinated with Police, Fire, Metcad, MTD, Unit 4, and Parkland College.
The crossing is being replaced at no cost to the City of Champaign.
