DeShawn Robins, GIS Technician in the Public Works Department, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Illinois GIS Association (ILGISA). He officially began his two-year term on October 16 at the association’s fall conference in Des Plaines. He is currently serving in the position of Secretary to the board. ILGISA is an organization that brings together those professionals and students who work with GIS within the State of Illinois.
DeShawn began work at the City in 2008 as a GIS intern in the IT Department. He was hired in the fall of 2009 by the Public Works Department as a GIS Technician to assist with the implementation of GIS and the GIS-based work order and asset management system for the department. DeShawn graduated from Eastern Michigan University with degrees in Geographic Information Systems and French.
