Champaign Fire Department Receives Carbon Monoxide Alarm Donation

Champaign received 100 carbon monoxide alarms from First Alert and the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal in conjunction with the fifth anniversary of enactment of the Illinois Carbon Monoxide Alarm Detector Act. This act requires homeowners and landlords to install carbon monoxide detectors in all buildings containing bedrooms and sleeping areas. Since 2005, Illinois has led the country in protecting its citizens from the dangers of this invisible, odorless and potentially fatal gas. Champaign citizens in need of an alarm may apply by contacting the Life Safety Division at 217.403.7200.
