On Saturday, October 13, the City of Champaign partnered with Champaign County, City of Urbana, and Village of Savoy and held the last electronics drive of 2012. Probation and Court services organized volunteers to help unload all the electronic waste. A total of 535 cars came to help keep 51,671 pounds of electronics out of the landfill by recycling them at this event. The total amount of electronics collected for the year was 215,615 pounds! City of Champaign has been a partner in this effort for many years, but over the last three years we have diverted over 1.2 million pounds of e-waste.
