Bloomington Gold Corvette Show

Bloomington Gold is the longest running continuous national Corvette show. The 41 year-old event features the showcasing of thousands of Corvettes along with a road tour. Organizers have chosen Champaign to host the event June 28-30, 2013. The event will be located on the grounds of the University of Illinois and the Assembly Hall parking lots but will also include a road tour to downtown Champaign on the opening evening. An estimated 1,500 Corvettes will converge on Downtown the evening of June 28 to enjoy local restaurants and the Blues, Brews and BBQ festival. Champaign Police and Planning Departments have been working closely with event organizers and the Champaign County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to coordinate the Downtown visit which will include the temporary closing of many streets. The overall street closure plan will be similar to that of the Downtown Parade of Lights. According to Jayne DeLuce, President and CEO of the CVB, the multi-day event creates millions in economic impact and showcases Champaign County on a national and international level. The event also creates a unique opportunity for the Champaign Center Partnership to promote their efforts.
