The Boneyard Creek Improvements – Phase 2 project has achieved an American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-Illinois) 2013 Engineering Excellence Merit Award! Fifty-six entries were judged in the 2013 ACEC-Illinois Engineering Excellence Awards Competition, resulting in 33 Merit Awards, 11 Special Achievement Awards, and 12 Honor Awards. As part of this award, the City will receive a plaque from ACEC-Illinois and the project will be part of a showcase during the 42nd Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Luncheon on Friday, February 8, 2013, in Lisle.
ACEC-Illinois is a statewide business association of over two hundred consulting engineering firms that together employ over ten-thousand engineers, architects, land surveyors, scientists and support personnel. Member firms contract with public and private sector clients designing bridges, buildings, environmental systems, roadways, water supply, waste treatment facilities and complex mechanical and electrical systems.
This is the third award received for the Boneyard Creek Improvement Phase 2 Project, which includes the Second Street Detention Basin. Previous awards were received in 2011 from the Champaign County Design and Conservation Foundation and in 2012 from the American Public Works Association, Illinois Chapter.
