Police Serve Search Warrant & Recover Two Handguns

On January 15, 2013 at approximately 2:25 PM, the Champaign Police Investigation Unit served a search warrant for weapons in the 1500 block of Holly Hill. As a result of this warrant, police seized two handguns, drug equipment, packaging, and approximately 2 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin.

Prior to serving the warrant, officers observed two subjects who are involved in this investigation in a vehicle, which was stopped in the 1000 block of W. Beardsley. Officers arrested both occupants of the vehicle; Allen Williams, 21 of Champaign for aggravated battery and Tyren Scott, 23, also of Champaign for Armed Violence and Unlawful use of Weapons by a Felon. Williams’ arrest stems from an unrelated investigation and Scott’s arrest was based on the results of the search warrant.

Due to the circumstances of weapons being present during this search warrant, the Champaign Police utilized the Champaign Police S.W.A.T. team to serve the warrant. The S.W.A.T. team was able to serve the warrant without incident.
