The Hill Street Parking Deck experienced an increase in usage again in 2012. Total vehicle entries for the deck were 132,306, an increase of 20% compared to the number of vehicle entries in 2011. The majority of this increase is due to transient (or daily parkers). Contract parking vehicle entries have remained somewhat level. The City continues to look for ways to increase usage of the Hill Street Parking Deck. These efforts include:
- a validation program available to downtown businesses that offers a discounted rate for their customers
- promotion of the deck as an available, convenient parking option for downtown residents, businesses and visitors via ads in the Convention and Visitors Bureau newsletter, placement of our updated GetDown brochure at local businesses and communication with new businesses
- free parking during the month of December with a $5 purchase from downtown businesses
- promotion of a monthly Customer Appreciation Day for permit holders and daily parkers in conjunction with the HSPD operator – Parking Solutions, Inc.
