Interested in how Champaign is ‘going green?’ Join your friends and neighbors at a public meeting for Champaign’s FIRST Environmental Sustainability Plan called Champaign Growing Greener. The meeting will be held tomorrow, April 30, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Champaign Public Library. Learn more about the key issues facing Champaign and efforts the City is taking to become more sustainable. Did you know that the City saved $162,000 every year by converting traffic lights to LEDs? Did you know that mature trees can reduce the surrounding temperature by nearly five degrees?
The event will include a short presentation, followed by an open house. Participants can vote to prioritize the efforts they care about most. This information will help City staff as the Plan is implemented.
