Champaign Police Make Arrest in Shooting Investigation; Search Continues for Second Suspect

Friday, April 26, 2013 the Champaign Police Department arrested NATWANE A. ADAMS, 36, of Champaign in connection to the shooting that occurred at the Red Roof Inn, located at 212 W. Anthony Drive on April 24, 2013.

An arrest warrant for Mr. Adams had been issued and he was arrested by Champaign Police in the 1200 block of Hedge Road. Mr. Adams was transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center and charged with Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

Both of these offenses are class X felonies. Mr. Adams’ bail has been set at $1,000,000.

Police continue to investigate this crime and have also obtained an arrest warrant for DEANDRE D. THOMAS, 29, of Rantoul. This arrest warrant is also for Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

Mr. Thomas’ bail has been set at $750,000. At this time, Champaign Police have not located Mr. Thomas and are seeking the community’s assistance in locating him.
