Public Meeting for Champaign Growing Greener

A public input meeting was held Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Champaign Public Library to share information on the draft, Champaign Growing Greener – Environmental Sustainability Plan. Staff from the City Sustainability Team, representing Public Works, Finance, Information Technology, Neighborhood Services and Planning helped facilitate the meeting. Over 30 people participated.

The meeting began with a short presentation that covered the key issues addressed in the plan. During the second half of the meeting, participants visited stations for each of the seven focus areas including green economy, water, solid waste and recycling, the built environment, energy, transportation behavior, and food and urban agriculture. At each station, participants voted on strategies that they would like to have prioritized. This information will help staff and City Council with implementation and resource allocation.
