Champaign Police Investigate Fatal Country Brook Shooting

On Tuesday, May 14, at approximately 9:20 PM Champaign Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Country Brook Apartments located in the 2600 block of West Springfield Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located a subject who appeared to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The subject was immediately transported to a local hospital by ambulance but later pronounced dead by the Champaign County Coroner.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing several gunshots coming from Country Brook Apartments. Witnesses also reported seeing two black males running south across Springfield Avenue from Country Brook shortly after hearing the gunshots. The only description at this time is that one of these subjects was wearing a white T-shirt and the other all dark clothing.

At this time no arrests have been made. The Champaign Police continue to actively investigate this incident and are looking for the community’s assistance to help solve this crime.
