Kerri Spear attended a homeless Continua of Care training on May 7-8 in Springfield. Four continua from mid-Illinois attended this workshop and the Champaign County team included ten participants. The workshop focused on the new HEARTH regulations affecting all federally-funded homeless programs and HUD’s desired outcomes to end homelessness. The workshop also highlighted how the Continuum and local jurisdictions will need to work together to determine the needs in the Consolidated Plan. The Champaign County Continuum of Care team felt good about the progress already made during the past year, including a visioning workshop, outline of policies needed, and a monitoring tool that is being developed. Kerri assumes the Chair position in September for a two-year period in accordance to the Continuum’s bylaws.
