Champaign Police Investigate Shots Fired (1100 block of Mimosa)

Champaign police are currently investigating a report of gunshots being fired in the 1100 block of Mimosa.

Today at approximately 1:15 PM, police were notified there were gunshots being fired in the 1100 block of Mimosa, with several males observed running from the scene. Upon arrival, officers found in the 1100 block of Mimosa a passenger vehicle which was damaged by gunfire. Officers also found in the 900 block of Ada another passenger vehicle which was damaged by gunfire. This vehicle had been in the 1100 block of Mimosa during the incident and was then driven to the 900 block of Ada. At this time, there have been no reported injuries from the gunfire.

Champaign Police arrested two adult males in the 1200 block of Mimosa as a result of the initial investigation into this incident; however, both males will not face charges at this time and will be released.

Police are continuing this investigation and are asking for the public’s assistance with any information on this case.
