Champaign Police Investigate Fourth Shooting Incident in Two Days

The Champaign Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident which left three males wounded. Officers responded to a shooting in the 1200 block of W. Bradley Avenue at approximately 7:54 PM on June 8, 2013.

Upon officers’ arrival, three males were found with gunshot injuries. Two of the victims were transported to the hospital and the third victim did not seek medical attention at the scene.

Since yesterday afternoon, the department has responded to four shooting incidents which left six young males wounded and three vehicles damaged by gunfire. All crimes were committed in the north and northwest areas of the city, where police are now focusing their attention.

Police are still searching for the vehicles and suspects involved in these incidents; a red 1990s work truck, with filler putty on the side of the truck, near the bottom and a Chrysler Pacifica or a silver Nissan Murano.

This evening, Champaign Police detectives arrested one suspect, 23 year-old, Jamonte Hill, of Champaign for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, in connection with the shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon in the 1100 block of Mimosa in which a red car was damaged by gunfire.

Champaign police are currently processing evidence, gathering information about potential suspects and determining if any of these incidents are related. The public is asked to call police with any information which may lead to an arrest of the shooters.
