Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect

On Sunday, June 23, 2013, at approximately 1:00 PM, Champaign Police arrested DeMarvin D. Thornton, 23, of Urbana, for armed robbery.

Thornton is suspected to have committed three separate armed robberies in Champaign between June 13 and 18. The first robbery occurred on June 13th at approximately 6:10 AM in the 300 block of E. Clark, the second was on June 15th at approximately 7:30 AM in the 100 block of S. Fourth, and the third was on June 18th at 4:35 AM in the 300 block of E. Stoughton.

Champaign Police were able to make this arrest with the cooperation of the community and tips reported to police.

Thornton was arrested for the crimes of Aggravated Robbery, Residential Burglary, Attempted Armed Robbery and Robbery and transported to the Champaign County Jail.
