Police Respond to Shots Fired Call – 300 Block of E. Green Street

On June 23, 2013, at approximately 3:14 AM, officers responded to a shots fired call in the 300 block of E. Green Street.

At the scene, officers spoke with witnesses who reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area. They provided a description of the shooting suspect and vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and made contact with the identified suspect, the driver, and a female passenger.

The suspect, HARVEY BLAKELY, 27, of Champaign, was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm was transported to the Champaign County Jail. A bond has been set at $1,000,000.

The vehicle’s driver, MICHAEL GLADNEY, 32, of Champaign, was arrested for Disobeying a Stop Sign and Fleeing and Eluding.

No one was injured during the incident, but at least one vehicle was damaged. Evidence recovered from the scene also suggests that there may have been more than one shooter involved. Police are currently investigating this incident and will provide updated information as it becomes available.
