The Cities of Champaign and Urbana are accepting nominations for the 11th Annual Champaign Urbana International Humanitarian Awards. Award recipients will be honored Thursday, September 26, 2013, at I Hotel and Conference Center, 1900 S. First Street, Champaign at 5:45 p.m.
The purpose of the International Humanitarian Awards is:
- to honor individuals whose work has contributed significantly to international understanding, cooperation, friendship and development;
- to recognize the richness of Champaign County’s international contributions, concerns and commitments in the following categories: agriculture, hospitality, humanitarian relief, human rights, research/education and trade and business; and
- to educate the public about the connections which exist between our local community and the global community.
The nomination deadline has been extended to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013.
