Walk Champaign Pedestrian Plan Activities

The Planning and Development Department has conducted three of the eight Neighborhood Walkabouts scheduled for the Walk Champaign Pedestrian Plan. The most recent of these was attended by staff from several City departments, as well as Council Member Marci Dodds and members of the public. Participants walked around the neighborhood between Westside Park, Illinois Terminal, and the Champaign Public Library and then shared feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of the pedestrian network in that area.

Jim Clark, Daphne Greaves, and Stacy Rachel comment on the quality of the pedestrian network around the Champaign Public Library.

Meanwhile, the Pedestrian Plan Survey has received 112 responses since going live on Monday, May 15. The survey asks respondents to share where, when, and why they walk, and to identify the challenges that they face in walking more often. Several responses have already been received from most Champaign neighborhoods.
