Student Book Giveaway Offers Free Book from Library Bookstore

The Champaign Public Library houses two floors of library—and one floor of bookstore. The weekend of September 7 and 8, students of all ages are invited to discover the FriendShop, the bookstore inside the library, and take home one regular-priced book free of charge. It’s a back-to-school gift from the Library Friends, who volunteer at the shop.

The Champaign Public Library is located at 200 W. Green St. The FriendShop, on the lower level, is packed wall-to-wall with used books, CDs, DVDs and audiobooks, most selling for just $1 or less. Specially priced items go for a little more, and some are sold online. Proceeds benefit the library.

During September, students can also save by joining the Library Friends for just $5, half the usual cost. Library Friends members get two free regular-priced books when they join and enjoy half-price savings shopwide during the second week each month. This month’s member sale will be September 14 to 20.

The FriendShop is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
