The City of Champaign Public Works Department has deployed eight staff members and seven pieces of equipment to assist with the cleanup in the Village of Gifford, in response to Sunday’s tornado. While assisting with the cleanup, City staff will be under the direction of the on-site command staff from the Champaign County Emergency Management Agency. City staff will report to Gifford and assist with cleanup, as long as our resources allow us to do so, while maintaining sufficient staff to address the needs of the citizens of Champaign.
