Champaign Police Investigate Bank Robbery (PNC Bank, 1771 W. Kirby Avenue)

On November 20, 2013, at approximately 4:20 PM, officers were dispatched to PNC Bank located at 1771 W. Kirby for a report of a bank robbery. 

Officers received information about a man entering the bank and demanding money from a teller, while displaying a dark-colored handgun. He then exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and headed northbound on foot away from the bank; possibly across Kirby Avenue. 

The suspect is described as a black male, with glasses, who appeared to be in his early to mid 30’s. He was wearing a grey, hooded zippered sweatshirt, a short billed olive green cap, dark-colored scarf, purple gloves, blue jeans, and light blue colored gym shoes with lime green trimming. 

There were seven employees in the bank at the time of the robbery. None reported being injured. Police are currently investigating this incident and is seeking the public’s help with identifying the suspect.
