News Release: Emergency Snow Route Activation

SNOW ROUTES ARE ACTIVATED

Champaign – City of Champaign SNOW ROUTES are activated as of 4:00 p.m. today.

Vehicles parked on the following streets must be removed by 1:00 a.m. Friday January 3, 2013.

 UNIVERSITY AVENUE from State St. to Mattis Ave.
 CHURCH STREET from State St. to Mattis Ave.
 STATE STREET from Bradley Ave. to Kirby Ave.
 RANDOLPH STREET from Bradley Ave. to Hessel Blvd.

Park on driveways and non-primary routes or in the Hill Street Parking Deck (parking is free from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. nightly, and $0.75/hour after that).

Public Works Director Dennis Schmidt thanks citizens for the prompt removal of vehicles from these streets, expediting the clearing of snow from City roadways. He reminds people to drive with caution.

City SNOW ROUTES are marked by permanent signs. Vehicles remaining on snow routes after activation. Vehicles that are towed will be relocated to the north end of the Champaign Police Department. Parking remains prohibited on these streets until the Public Work Director cancels the activation.
