The National Weather Service is forecasting extremely cold temperatures with wind chills that are life threatening. If you do not have adequate heat in your home, please seek shelter with a friend or family member. There are several entities who are opening their buildings as warming centers, please take advantage of them if you need to.
The City of Champaign is aware of the following locations for warming shelters:
Savoy United Methodist Church – 3002 Old Church Rd, Savoy (bring own blankets and anything needed to be comfortable)
Salvation Army (Men’s Shelter) – 2212 N. Market St., Champaign (Must be 18, with ID, no violent criminal history, no alcohol)
Salvation Army (for families) – 2212 N. Market St, Champaign
Open Monday during Regular Business Hours:
Illinois Department of Human Services (DRS) – 1307 N. Mattis Ave., Champaign
