Starting Monday, March 31, 2014, Stark Construction will CLOSE Windsor Road to all traffic between Fields South Drive and Briar Hill Drive for the construction of the Windsor Road Bridge Approaches Project. Access to Eagle Ridge Drive will be maintained at all times. A marked detour route will be in place to direct traffic around the project. The detour route will utilize Springfield Avenue, Kirby Avenue, Curtis Road, and Duncan Road. The construction contract specifies that Windsor Road is to reopen to traffic by August 15, 2014.
A portion of this $2,557,636 project is being funded with a grant from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) in the amount of $1,740,800. The remaining balance of $816,836 is being funded with City of Champaign Local Motor Fuel Tax funds. The project will improve Windsor Road, between Field South Drive and Briar Hill Drive to match into the new bridge over I-57 that IDOT completed last fall. Windsor Road will be widened for on-street bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the road and will have new LED street lights.
