Road Closure – Windsor Road

ROAD CLOSURE – WINDSOR ROAD BETWEEN EAGLE RIDGE DRIVE AND BRIAR HILL DRIVE

Starting Tuesday, April 1, 2014, weather permitting, Stark Excavating will CLOSE Windsor Road between Eagle Ridge Drive and Briar Hill Drive, to begin construction activities on the Windsor Road I57 Bridge Approaches Improvement Project.

A marked detour route will be in place to direct traffic around the project. The detour route will utilize Staley Road, Kirby Avenue, Curtis Road, and Duncan Road.

The project will improve Windsor Road, between Field South Drive and Briar Hill Drive to match into the new bridge over Interstate 57 that IDOT completed in 2013. The project will widen Windsor Road for new on-street bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the road and will install new LED street lights.

A portion of this $2,557,636 project is being funded with a grant from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) in the amount of $1,740,800. The remaining balance of $816,836 is being funded with City of Champaign Local Motor Fuel Tax funds.

The construction contract specifies that Windsor Road is to reopen to traffic by August 15, 2014. The final completion date is October 15, 2014.

The City of Champaign apologizes for any inconveniences caused by the construction work and thanks the public for their patience and cooperation during the project.
