Champaign Police Conduct Homicide Investigation (Hedge Road)

The Champaign Police Department is currently investigating a shooting which occurred in the 1500 Block of Hedge Road yesterday evening at approximately 5:50 p.m. Champaign Police responded to an initial report of people being chased by others who were armed with guns, and a report shortly afterwards of multiple shots being fired.

Champaign Police responded and found a 26 year-old male victim who had been shot multiple times. Officers provided initial medical attention to the victim until ambulance personnel arrived at the scene. The victim was transported to Carle Emergency, where he was pronounced deceased.

Police are looking for the following suspect descriptions believed to be connected to this shooting:

1) Black male wearing a white shirt
2) Black male, 18 years-old, last seen wearing a cut-off jean jacket with no sleeves and blue jeans.
3) Black male, 30 years-old, 5’ 11”, 145 lbs.
4) Black male, 18 years-old, 5’10”, 160 lbs.
5) Black male, 37 years-old, 5’ 6”, 305 lbs.

Champaign Police are looking for two vehicles believed to be involved in this shooting:

  • Newer black 4 door passenger car
  • Silver SUV
