In order to complete utility improvement work, Ameren will close the two northbound lanes of Prospect Avenue, between Armory Avenue and Green Street, beginning at 7:00 am, Saturday, March 21, 2015 through 10:00pm, Saturday, March 28, 2015. Traffic will be diverted to the southbound lanes of Prospect Avenue, to allow for continued two-way traffic. Ameren will conduct work in this area daily, between the hours of 7:00am to 10:00pm.
Green Street and Armory Avenue will remain open to through traffic. Charles Street, William Street, Daniel Street, and John Street will remain open to local traffic. However, Prospect Avenue will not be accessible to these streets and these streets will not be accessible from Prospect Avenue.
This work is necessary to complete phase three of an upgrade to the electrical infrastructure system that serves the downtown Champaign area. The City and Ameren appreciate the cooperation of residents in the area and encourage travelers to obey traffic signals and use caution when in the area.
