Police Seek the Public’s Help in Locating Suspect

The Champaign Police Department is currently searching for, and seeking the public’s help to locate 18-year-old Marquis A. Jones of Urbana, who is wanted for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at approximately 1:35PM, Police Investigators observed an individual walking in the 1100 block of North State Street, and believed him to be wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.  When Police approached and attempted to speak with the individual, who was later confirmed as Marquis A. Jones, he immediately fled from the area on foot.

During the foot pursuit, Jones removed a revolver from his waistband and discarded the weapon along the flight path.  Police Investigators immediately recovered the revolver, which was later determined to be stolen; however, Jones was able to evade officers, and still remains at large.

On Thursday, May 7, 2015, Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Marquis Jones for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and bond was set in the amount of $50,000.  Investigators have also learned that Jones is wanted on an Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Violation warrant under the alias of Donnie Caldwell.
