Police Make an Arrest for May 6 Weapons Investigation 

On Wednesday, June 17, 2015, Champaign Police Officers arrested Marquis A. Jones, an 18-year-old male from Champaign, who was sought in connection with a May 6, 2015 incident for Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons.  Jones was arrested in the 900 block of North Fourth Street on an outstanding arrest warrant and was transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center.

During the May 6 incident, in the 1100 block of N. State Street, Champaign Police Detectives attempted to speak with Jones, who immediately fled on foot.  During a foot pursuit, Detectives observed Jones remove a revolver from his waistband and discard it along his flight path. Champaign Police officers recovered the revolver, which was determined to be stolen.  An arrest warrant was issued for Jones the following day.
