Bristol Place Update
On Tuesday, December 1, the Champaign City Council approved the acquisition of 205 Garwood, the first not-for-profit acquisition in Bristol Place. The House of Prayer, Church of the Living God formerly at 205 Garwood, has been sold to the City of Champaign. The pastor of the church is retiring and plans to provide outreach services to the community.
As of December 4, the City has acquired 32 properties, demolished 14 homes, and an additional 2 under contract. Staff continues to work with residents in Bristol to assist them with relocation assistance and six tenants have been offered Housing Choice Vouchers from the Housing Authority of Champaign County.
