Jean Algee, Community Development Specialist, attended a five day certification class for Asbestos Contractors/Supervisors on February 22-26 in Springfield, IL. The class included topics such as the background of Asbestos, Health Effects, Worker Protection, Respirator training, Insurance and Liability issues, Abatement Procedures, Safety Hazards, and Regulatory Requirements. Jean participated in constructing a containment unit and a hands on Glovebag demonstration. Information from this training course will provide staff the knowledge to monitor the asbestos abatement procedures during demolition in Bristol Place.
