Neighborhood Services Staff attends HUD Downstate Illinois Grantee Conference

Neighborhood Service Department staff members Kerri Spear and Janel Gomez attended the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Regional Grantee Conference on May 5 and 6 at the Decatur Public Library.  HUD Representatives from Chicago held the conference for all Central and Southern Illinois HUD Grantees.  Also in attendance were grantees from Urbana, Decatur, Springfield, Peoria, Bloomington, and several County grantees.

Among of the topics of the conference were Grant Based Accounting and funding commitment strategies.  HUD also introduced a new contracting requirement – 2 CFR 200 – that provides procurement language to be included in all contracts appropriating HUD funds.  Additionally, HUD discussed state budget difficulties and how they affect HUD programming, provided samples of approved documents, and allowed time for networking among the grantees present at the conference.
